What is your favorite part of coaching at CrossFit Aerial?
I love hearing about how the fitness and functionality they’ve gained in the gym, pays off outside the gym. For example, “I can mow my lawn easier now. I don’t have to stop and take breaks anymore.” OR “I feel so much better being able to run a half marathon from all the training I’ve done in the gym, even though I haven’t been doing a ton of additional running outside the gym!
How did you get started in CrossFit?
I found CrossFit while I was in college. I was home for Thanksgiving break, and I knew I was moving back home at the end of the semester, so I figured I would try it out. After one class, I immediately knew I was hooked. I couldn’t wait for that semester of college to be done so I could attend the gym back home.
What is your background in health/fitness?
I have always been into health and fitness. I got started early on in the weight room, and had a passion for training for the different sports I was in. I spent most mornings throughout high school in the weight room simply trying to get better because I loved the process. I played volleyball in college for a little while until I found CrossFit, and the rest is history.
What's one thing you are working on to better yourself as a coach/athlete?
I love bettering myself so I can show up as a better coach/person for those around me. I am currently working on improving my mindset both in and out of the gym.

What is your favorite part of coaching at CrossFit Aerial?
My favorite part of coaching is seeing the progress that people make. Whether it’s a PR on a lift, a first pull-up, or a first muscle-up, it’s awesome to see people achieve things they never thought possible.
How did you get started in CrossFit?
I discovered CrossFit over 10 years ago. I was looking for more variety in my workouts and a way to continue to learn new skills. I was hooked after my first class and I’ve been doing it ever since.
What is your background in health/fitness?
I've always been into health and fitness since a young age. I started lifting weights in middle school and discovered the physical and mental outlet that it provided. Lifting was one of the first correlations I discovered between hard work and results. The harder I worked, the better I got. I played football in high school and college and continued to lift weights and run to stay in shape after college.
What's one thing you are working on to better yourself as a coach/athlete?
As a coach I'm always working on getting the most out of each athlete on a day to day basis. Some days, that might mean we need to back off or modify a workout. Other days, I want to challenge members to reach for new limits and push themselves beyond what they thought was possible.

What is your favorite part of coaching at CrossFit Aerial?
Being able to see everyone make progress, whether it’s a deeper squat or their first box jump or pull-up!
How did you get started in CrossFit?
I was 15 and my mom asked me if I wanted to try out a new type of fitness with her. It was advertised as a 3x/week for 6 week program of functional fitness. I've always liked challenges so of course the answer was yes (especially because my dad didn’t want me to do it because he thought it would be bad for a growing kid). It sounds cheesy but for real, the first time I stepped in the gym, I knew it wasn’t going to be for just 6 weeks.
What is your background in health/fitness?
I mean before 15 there wasn’t much. I played middle school soccer, attempted to run, and lifted some weights here and there but wasn’t big into anything. Both my parents are nurses though so I’ve always been interested in keeping people healthy before they get to the point of needing the hospital.
What's one thing you are working on to better yourself as a coach/athlete?
So many things to work on (it’s a good problem to have). Definitely for coaching, I am working on better and more direct cues for fixing movement patterns of the athletes.

What is your favorite part of coaching at CrossFit Aerial?
Although I don’t coach, I think my favorite part about CrossFit Aerial is being able to workout as a group. There is always a great feeling of community and support when I come here.
How did you get started in CrossFit?
I wanted to try something new, be able to challenge myself, and have an outlet that supported me mentally and physically.
What is your background in health/fitness?
I was always active in various sports during my childhood and throughout High School. Always having some type of daily movement has been important to me regardless of the activity.
What's one thing you are working on to better yourself as a coach/athlete?
Just being able to show up for myself everyday during class is something very important to me. I am really working on integrating positive self-talk into my time during workouts.

What is your favorite part of coaching at CrossFit Aerial?
The energy. Every class has a different vibe and I love feeding off of that. Whether someone is grinding through their first workout ever or chasing a PR, there's nothing better than being in the middle of it and helping people push past what they thought they could do.
How did you get started in CrossFit?
A buddy of mine dragged me to a class a few years back. I played it cool but I was absolutely wrecked after. I couldn't believe how humbling it was — and how much fun I had getting humbled. I kept showing up and eventually realized I wanted to be on the coaching side of things too.
What is your background in health/fitness?
I played sports growing up — football, wrestling, whatever kept me moving. After high school I bounced around different gyms and routines but nothing really stuck until CrossFit. It brought back that team atmosphere I'd been missing since my playing days. The competitive side of me finally had somewhere to go again.
What's one thing you are working on to better yourself as a coach/athlete?
Patience — both with myself and with athletes. Not everyone progresses at the same pace and that's totally fine. I'm learning to meet people where they are instead of where I think they should be. As an athlete, I'm working on my Olympic lifts. Snatch technique is a never-ending journey.

What is your favorite part of coaching at CrossFit Aerial?
As a coach I get to see blood, sweat, and tears from the hard work that our athletes put in. Seeing one of the athletes receive a PR and know all their hard work has paid off makes me feel just as excited and happy as they are.
How did you get started in CrossFit?
In 2011 I needed a new fitness routine while I was deployed overseas and there was a CrossFit tent. As soon as I finished my first workout, I could barely walk out the door, but the next day I showed up for more. I knew I found a home and something I was going to love and be passionate about long term.
What is your background in health/fitness?
I have a degree in Sports Management and Exercise Science. I have been a certified personal trainer since I was in high school and got my level 1 CrossFit certification in 2012 and the rest is history.
What's one thing you are working on to better yourself as a coach/athlete?
I am engaged in some online CrossFit specific coaching lessons to refine my skills and techniques as a coach. As an athlete I’m trying to attend more classes and doing something I don’t “really” enjoy, which is running!
